‘The Elephant’ stood on this site from 1928 until being demolished in the early 1970s.

This weatherboard hall was built in 1910 at Toorak College, Douglas Street, Toorak. It was moved to the next school site at Mayfield Avenue, Malvern, and finally to Mount Eliza in 1928. It was such a significant part of the school that ‘The Elephant’ newsletter, launched in 1965, was named in its honour.
